The Goethe Trail
Mariánské Lázně and its surroundings are literally interwoven with educational trails, one of which is the Goethe Trail. The starting point is Goethe Square near the city museum (the House of the Golden Bunch of Grapes), where the poet once stayed. He devoted his time not only to spa treatments but also to collecting and studying local minerals. The museum features an exhibition commemorating his visits.
The 1.1 km route leads through the Geological Park, the largest of its kind in the Czech Republic. You will be fascinated by the colours and structures of the rocks that we usually walk over without noticing. A short detour takes you to Laska Chapel, and from there it is only a few steps to the sculpture group Goethe and the Muse. The easy walk concludes with a tasting of refreshing mineral water from the Forest Spring.
