Kinesiotaping Method at Hotel MIRAMARE Luhačovice

What Is Kinesiotaping and What Is It Used For?

Kinesiotaping is a modern physiotherapy method that uses elastic, self-adhesive tapes applied directly to the skin. It is designed to support the body’s natural processes without restricting movement. This technique is used not only by athletes but also by people seeking pain relief, solutions for chronic problems, or support during rehabilitation.

How Does Kinesiotaping Work?

The tape is made of elastic polyurethane fibres covered with cotton, making it breathable, skin-friendly and suitable for use in water. Once applied, it gently lifts the skin, increasing the space between the skin layers and the muscle. This effect can:

  • reduce pressure on pain receptors,
  • promote better microcirculation,
  • help warm the affected area,
  • release muscle tension.

Unlike traditional rigid taping, it does not restrict joint or muscle movement and is therefore suitable for everyday activities.

Which Health Problems Is It Suitable For?

According to physiotherapists’ experience and available knowledge, the method is especially used for:

  • back pain – cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine,
  • muscle and tendon pain, injuries and inflammation,
  • headaches, including migraines,
  • joint sprains and dislocations,
  • scoliosis (including in children),
  • osteoarthritis,
  • epicondylitis – tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow or thrower’s elbow,
  • Achilles tendon problems,
  • carpal tunnel syndrome,
  • foot arch problems,
  • lymphoedema and swelling,
  • support for treatment after orthopaedic surgery,
  • scar healing,
  • certain gynaecological or neurological conditions.

How Long Can the Tape Be Worn?

The duration of use is not strictly limited. A single tape is usually left on the skin for 3–4 days or until it starts to peel off on its own. It is important to monitor the skin’s reaction – if itching or redness occurs, the tape should be removed. Kinesiotaping should be understood as a complement to treatment, not as a solution to the root cause of pain.
